I have professional portrait photography in my blood.  My father, before moving to Las Vegas Nevada was a professional photographer in the Navy during WW II.  As a child, my father had a professional  photographers darkroom set up in the basement and I always looked on in wonder as he taught my older brother
how to develop pictures.

In my teens, I bought my first professional camera and started shooting portraits of people and everything and anything that would
stand still long enough.

Determined that I wanted to know more, I went to school to study photography and after a few years I began hanging around the studio of a professional photographer named David Sharpe.

David specialized in commercial, editorial, convention photography and is one of, if not the best professional studio photographer in the Washington DC area.  After hanging out at David's for 6 months as an unofficial intern , Dennis, Davids full time assistant whom I also learned a great deal from, decided to move on with his career and I was the best qualified to take Dennis' old position as the full time assistant.. I quit my job at the Department of Defense as a printer and took a 50% cut in pay to become a fulltime photo assistant for David Sharpe.

After almost 2 years with David, I reluctantly left his studio and started my Freelance Assisting Days, working with all the best photographers in Washington DC.. Peter Garfield, Fred Maroon, Mike Mitchell, Ira Wexler, Kay Chernesh and many more.

One day when working with David as a freelancer, I met a photographer that had rented His studio, and me, named Dennis Peil,
a top fashion photographer from New York.

Having a connection to NY now, I wanted to move there and learn about fashion photography, which I did, and started my 2 years of freelance assisting in NY.

Sending my resume out to the absolute best photographers in NY, I started assisting people

Annie Leibovitz, David Langley, Michael O'Brian, Abe Seltzer, Alen Mac'Weeny, James Magoon, Liz Napels, Debbra Fingold.

After two years in NY, I returned to Washington DC and opened my own studio on Capitol Hill. I worked with agencies such as: Vanity Fair, Chiat Day, Earle Palmer Brown, Nasuti & Hinkle, The Oracle Corporation, Stackig Sanderson White and The Westat Corporation as well as many others. After Learning that my mother had a very life threatening illness, I moved my operation to Las Vegas, NV to spend more time with her and my family.

Since opening my studio in Las Vegas Nevada I have had the opportunity to do many different types of photography.
